A Colchester man saved his dog’s life by performing the Heimlich manoeuvre after she began choking at home.
Steven Fenton, 38, from Colchester, sprang into action when he noticed Bella, his three-year-old Staffy cross, struggling to breathe.
He first tried to give her water before realising she was choking.
Mr Fenton said: "In the moment, panic kicked in and my head was all over the place.
"All I could think was, 'I can’t lose my baby.'
"We’ve been through so much together, and I couldn’t bear the thought of losing her.
"I still don't really know what she was choking on, but I'm just so relieved we were able to dislodge it."

He performed the Heimlich manoeuvre several times and reached into Bella’s mouth, eventually clearing the blockage.
Bella did not require a visit to the vet, although Mr Fenton stayed up with her the following night to monitor her condition.
