Drivers are facing delays throughout today on the A120, with a lane closure in place.
Emergency repairs are underway on the Colchester-bound carriageway near Elmstead Market due to an "infrastructure defect".
Lane two will remain closed until this afternoon to allow the tarmac to fully cure before it is safe to drive on.
Traffic already appears to be struggling.
