A signalling fault has caused widespread cancellations across train services in Essex this evening.

The issue has affected routes on the Greater Anglia network, leading to major delays and cancellations.

The problem is between Stratford and Forest Gate, where a signalling fault has disrupted multiple lines running through the area.

Affected routes include London Liverpool Street to Clacton, Colchester Town, Braintree, and Southend Victoria, as well as routes to Norwich and Ipswich.

Passengers have been advised to expect disruption until the end of the day, with services subject to cancellation, delay or revision.

Network Rail engineers are working on the fault.

The spokesperson said: "An update will follow within the next 1 hour.

"Greater Anglia and Network Rail are sorry if your journey has been affected by this disruption.

"Advance purchase tickets holders will be allowed to travel on earlier or later trains if their booked service is cancelled.

"If your journey with us has been delayed by 15 minutes or more, you may be entitled to compensation for a portion of your fare."

The disruption is also affecting Elizabeth line services.
