Search the Public Notice PortalNO decision has been made on plans for 100 homes in Alresford, more than a year after they were submitted.
Pigeon, a property developer, put forward plans for 100 homes on land east of Cockaynes Lane, in March 2025.
The housing development would include 60 specialist homes for older people and five houses for first-time buyers and those who want to self-build.
These properties would be made up of 20 one-bedroom homes, 42 two-bed homes and 33 three-bed houses.
Multiple extension of time requests have been accepted over the past year, with the most recent elongating the consultation until September this year.
This it to allow time for archaeological trenching and a re-consultation with ECC Place Services Archaeology.
When the plans were first submitted, they were met with 35 objections, six neutral comments and one supporting comment.
Objectors raised concerns about a lack of infrastructure, road safety with an increased amount of vehicles and a loss of character for the village.
Ms Adithi Hyma, objecting, said: "The proposition to construct new residential dwellings within our village boundaries ignites a critical debate regarding the adequacy of our current infrastructure.
"While the allure of expanded housing opportunities is undeniable, the stark reality is that our existing infrastructure is already operating under considerable strain.
"The influx of additional vehicles threatens to transform these thoroughfares into perpetual bottlenecks, extending commute times, amplifying air pollution, and compromising the safety of pedestrians and cyclists."
But supporters of the plans say that new homes are needed to aid first-time buyers, lower property costs and house more people.
Mr Darran Girling, supporting, said: "The UK is currently facing a severe housing shortage, and Essex is particularly affected.
"A new housing development near Alresford would directly contribute to bridging this gap, easing the pressure on rising prices and providing more affordable options for local families and first-time buyers.
"While it's natural for residents to be concerned about change, rejecting new developments based on a Not In My Back Yard attitude hinders progress.
"We must recognise that sustainable development is essential for addressing the housing crisis, ensuring the future growth of communities, and providing opportunities for younger generations to own homes."
