AN inquest has opened into the death of a man who was found by his step-son at their Colchester home.

Police and paramedics were called after Ernest Coppin, 55, was discovered at his home in November.

At a short hearing at Essex Coroner’s Court on Thursday, coroner Michelle Brown said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding Mr Coppin’s death.

She said: “Identification was confirmed in a statement to police by his stepson.

“A provisional cause of death was given as 1A, heroin toxicity, and 2, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and pneumonia.”

The inquest was adjourned until a later date.
