The future of the North Hill Hotel remains safe since takeover, say the owners who have been in charge since September

North Hill Hotel Limited, which ran the North Hill Hotel until then entered creditors' voluntary liquidation meaning control of the business has passed to the liquidator.

This took place on January 23, 2026, according to official notices in the Gazette.

This company is not linked to the hotel anymore and the limited company was not sold with the hotel.

Joint liquidators have now been appointed to wind up the company.

North Hill Hotel Limited say that the company winding up is due to the sale of the hotel, and that the business has been successful for its whole lifetime.

The independent 17-room hotel has been a significant feature on North Hill for several years and includes a bar and restaurant which remain open.

On booking sites, the North Hill Hotel is still available to book and is not at risk of closure say the owners, who assured guests that all bookings are safe.

They assured customers that North Hill Hotel say that the business is operating as normal and is still running successfully.

It provides close access to the city centre, Colchester Castle and the Mercury Theatre.

Official notices state the company's shareholders approved resolutions to voluntarily wind up the business and appoint liquidators.
