A licenced Harry Potter gift shop in Essex is brewing up magical experiences inspired by the wizarding world.
Bubbling Burkes, located in Chelmsford, has set out to offer visitors a taste of the Harry Potter world's Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley.
The shop features a range of themed items, including spell jars, potion bottles, dragons, Harry Potter stationery, and gifts "that look as though they’ve been delivered by owl."
A spokesperson for the shop said: "We’re not just a gift shop.
"Our takeaway drinks will take you back to Hogsmeade.
"There’s the famous Chocolate Frog Hot Chocolate, shimmering Mermaid’s Tail, our potion drinks and, of course, our creamy butterscotch beer - a nostalgic favourite for witches and wizards of all ages."
The shop also offers immersive experiences, including the Witches of Chelmsford Walks - exploring the real 17th-century witch trials that took place in Essex, working with talented local actors to bring these stories to life.
For those looking to get hands-on, Bubbling Burkes’ potion classes have quickly become one of its most popular offerings.
Held in small groups, guests gather around the workbench to brew "sparkling, bubbling concoctions" under guidance.
The spokesperson added: "There’s colour, a bit of history and a lot of laughter.
"We run classes regularly during holidays and on selected dates throughout the year, but we also offer private bookings for intimate groups of up to six -perfect for birthdays, office parties or simply an excuse to do something different with friends."
The shop’s small group sizes are intentional to keep "things personal, hands-on and genuinely magical rather than crowded or rushed."
They also hope to offer something unique to attract visitors into town.
The spokesperson said: "At a time when high streets everywhere are struggling, we’re passionate about creating something different - a reason to come into town that you simply can’t order online."
