A Colchester estate agency has got behind an initiative to deliver mental health and wellbeing books to schools and nurseries in Colchester.

Boydens threw its support behind the campaign led by Emma Barber of Little Boots Bookstore, which is based in the town.

Together with the support of other businesses and individuals, the initiative saw 18 schools and nurseries in the Colchester area receive over £600 worth of age-appropriate, mental health–focused books.

Philip Boyden, managing director of Boydens, joined Emma to deliver the book bundles to Chesterwell Nursery and both key stages at Langham Primary School.

Philip said: “It’s a fantastic initiative that really resonated with us as a business and as a family.

“Supporting children’s wellbeing and education in our community is something we care deeply about and the idea of delivering real tools to help children understand their feelings is just brilliant.

“Boydens has always championed causes that support families, education, and wellbeing.

This initiative was not only about donating books, but also about making a real difference in children's lives, giving teachers and carers the resources they need to support mental health in the classroom.

“We’d like to thank Emma for involving us in such a meaningful project, and we’re proud to have played a part in delivering these vital bundles to children who will benefit from them most.”

Emma, founder of Little Boots Bookstore said: “The response from schools was overwhelmingly positive.

“These books will help children navigate some of the complex feelings they face as they grow, and they simply wouldn’t have reached these settings without the generous support of sponsors like Boydens.”
