An apprenticeship is a fantastic way for young people to gain skills and start employment, and it is beneficial for businesses too.
National Apprenticeship Week takes place from February 9 to February 15, and spreads awareness about the benefits that apprentices bring for businesses and young people.
The weeklong celebration brings together businesses and apprentices across the country to shine a light on the positive impact of apprenticeships.

Dozens of free events will take place all over Essex to help job-seekers and companies find opportunities and support.
The Apprenticeship Hub is a free service by Essex County Council, designed to help 14 to 25-year-olds understand the apprenticeship pathway and connect with employers.
Cllr Tony Ball, cabinet member for employability at Essex County Council, said: “National Apprenticeship Week is a brilliant opportunity for young people to explore the wide range of pathways available to them.
“These events hosted by our Apprenticeship Hub give students and young people direct access to employers, training providers and expert advisors who can help them make informed choices about their future.
"This is exactly what our Essex Year of Opportunity campaign is all about.
“Apprenticeships continue to be a valuable route into skilled, sustainable careers. I’m delighted to see so many local employers getting involved across Essex."
Events taking place around National Apprenticeship Week include:
- Get Sorted
We Rise, a youth movement, is helping people aged 14 to 24 in meeting local employers and training providers on February 11.
They will explore apprenticeship and course options, get support with English and Maths and access mentoring at The Paddocks, in Canvey Island.
- Apprenticeships in Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing
This online webinar invites pupils from Year 10 to Year 13 to learn about local employers in the engineering sector.
It will take place on February 11 and helps attendees to find apprenticeship vacancies and gain practical guidance to help plan their next steps.
- 1‑to‑1 Apprenticeship Support Sessions, 16 to 20 February
Throughout half term, from February 16 to 20, students in Year 11, 12 and 13, can meet with specialist career advisors from the Apprenticeship Hub.
These can take place in-person or online for personalised advice and support.
