A major fault with the barriers at Great Bentley is causing disruption on train lines between Essex and London Liverpool Street.
The issue with the signalling system at the level crossing took place last night and Network Rail are said to be on the scene investigating.
All lines are now said to be reopened but commuters can expect disruption until further notice.
Response teams are continuing to work on fully restoring the signalling, however Great Bentley level crossing is under control by a member of Network Rail staff.
