YOUNG people in Essex are being offered support to boost their skills in English and maths.
A new scheme is part of the Essex Year of Opportunity and aims to help 16 to 19-year-olds not currently in education, employment, or training gain a Level 2 qualification to improve their future prospects.
The programme is being delivered by Get Further and Clarion Futures, the charitable foundation of Clarion Housing Group.
Get Further will run courses across Essex while Clarion Futures will run courses in Tendring.
Tony Ball, councillor responsible for education excellence, lifelong learning and employability at Essex County Council, said: "It is vital our young people are given every opportunity to succeed.
"Everyone needs good literacy and numeracy skills to get on, whether at college or in the workplace.
"We need to help these young people get the necessary skills to support their prospects."

The three-month Functional Skills Level 2 Tuition Programme offers four hours of tuition per week and is delivered in community-based settings, such as youth hubs.
Courses are available in small groups or one-to-one, designed to help learners build confidence and re-engage with education.
Residents can email apprenticeship.hub@essex.gov.uk to sign up and be supported onto a functional skills course.
