A special exhibition train will arrive in Colchester in just under a month.

The Railway 200 Inspiration Train will stop at Cambridge, Colchester, Clacton-on-Sea, and Hertford East in early 2026 as part of the national Railway 200 celebrations.

The Railway 200 tour marks the 200th anniversary of the modern railway and invites visitors to explore the history, impact, and future of rail travel.

Martin Beable, Greater Anglia’s managing director said: “We are really looking forward to welcoming back Inspiration to East Anglia and continuing the celebrations linked to the 200th anniversary of the modern railway.

“Having the exhibition train visit Cambridge, Colchester, Clacton-on-Sea, and Hertford East stations in early 2026 will shine a spotlight on the past and present of the railway, while inspiring the next generation of railway talent.”

The steam train will begin its journey through East Anglia later this month, first stopping at Cambridge.

As we enter February, the train will pass through Colchester, Clacton and Hertford East.
