IT's been nearly nine years since the festival finished for good in 2017 but V Festival still has a special place in our hearts.

Having first drawn in music lovers during Britpop's heyday in the mid-Nineties, V Festival evolved significantly to become one of the country's premiere pop parties.

In later years, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Pink and Jay Z have all graced Hylands Park in CHelmsford for V Festival.

The next big festival to take place in Hylands Park is State Fayre which will feature headliners Kings of Leon, Neil Young, and The Lumineers in June, 2026.

But we're looking back at V Festival nearly two decades ago, 2006, when Radiohead and Morrisey headlined the main stage.

Other high profile performers including Faithless, Paul Weller, Kasabian and Fatboy Slim.

There were some future stars playing low-key sets on the lesser stages as well, including Paulo Nutini, Lily Allen, James Morrison and Jamie T.

Take a look back at these great photos from V Festival 2006.
