Fatboy Slim to headline Colchester Castle Summer Series

Dance music icon Fatboy Slim will headline the Colchester Castle Summer Series in Lower Castle Park on August 29, 2026.

It follows the announcement last month that 80s music star Billy Ocean will headline the Summer Series on August 20 and the BRIT award-winning artist Becky Hill will headline on August 22.

Norman Cook, known by his stage name Fatboy Slim, has been releasing hits for more than three decades.

His second album You've Come a Long Way, Baby went to the number one spot in the UK album charts in 1998 and the artist has earned seven UK top ten songs.

A Colchester Castle Summer Series spokesperson said: “Known around the world for his legendary live shows and genre-defining hits, Fatboy Slim has soundtracked dancefloors with anthems including Praise You, Right Here, Right Now, Weapon of Choice, and Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat.

“Renowned for transforming any stage into a euphoric, communal celebration, his Colchester performance will bring his signature energy to the heart of one of England’s most historic venues.”

For the eight Summer Series shows this year, there were headline performances from The Smashing Pumpkins on August 14, Busted on August 15, Craig David on August 16, Tom Jones on August 18, Texas on August 21, and Madness on August 23.

Two festivals also happened, UB40 featuring Ali Campbell headlined reggae day festival Roots East on August 17, which Mr Campbell spoke to the Gazette about.

Meanwhile, Manchester group James headlined the Out of Time Festival on August 22.

Indie rockers White Lies even spoke to the Gazette about their time in the city and supporting The Smashing Pumpkins.

The team behind the event, promoters Soundcrash and Supermodified, are well-known in the UK for hosting popular events like the Margate Summer Series, London’s South Facing Festival, Hitchin Priory Series, and Cardiff Bay Series.
