COLCHESTER Zoo will release its new Christmas advert for 2025 this afternoon.

Titled ‘Conservation Never Stops’, the advert will take viewers behind the scenes of daily life at Colchester zoo all year round.

Working with Essex-based production company, Deadline Communications for the third year in a row, the zoo will release the advert at 3pm today across its social media platforms.

The three-minute advert aims to take viewers on a journey from January through to December, following the animals, staff and visitors.

On February 1, the zoo began a new chapter as a charity, known as Colchester Zoological Society.

For more than 60 years, the site in Stanway was a privately owned zoo with a charitable arm – which provided funds to conservation projects around the world, including UmPhafa Nature Reserve in South Africa.

The purpose of changing to Colchester Zoological Society, a charitable trust, was to secure the future of the zoo as a centre of conservation – helping to protect wildlife and wild places whilst providing a first-class visitor experience for generations to come.

Melissa Dench, business development manager at Colchester Zoological Society, said: “Due to our transition to a charitable trust this year, we really wanted our Christmas advert to showcase all of the hard work our dedicated team carry out every single day to help care for wildlife and wild places.

"It really is a job that never stops, even on Christmas Day, so we are delighted to include all of the departments here at the zoo as each and every one has their important role to play in conservation.

"Come rain or shine, the CZS team come together 365 days a year and their passion for animals and conservation brighten each day.

"Of course, the animals are at the heart of everything we do here at CZS, so we wanted to ensure as many as possible were featured but with over 150 species, that was a tricky task!

"Without our loyal supporters we wouldn’t be able to help care for wildlife and wild places so of course we had to feature families enjoying a day out with us, discovering animals from across the world!”

The Christmas advert will be part of an online marketing campaign #ConservationNeverStops.

As well as on social media, the advert will also feature the zoo's website and will be displayed around the park on digital screens.

Simon J Frith, managing director at Deadline Communications Ltd said: “Returning to the Zoo to make our third Christmas film has been such a joy – especially with a focus on conservation.

"Filming the animals and sharing the amazing work the zoo team does behind the scenes is a true privilege.”
