A COLCHESTER student is continuing his journey to becoming a police officer after receiving his A-levels.
James Warner, 18, of New Town, studied law, sociology, and criminology at Sigma Sixth Form and achieved B, B, C.
He plans to join Essex Police through a degree apprenticeship.
He said: "It was a sleepless night, last night, I was expecting a lot worse not because I didn't think I did well but because it is such a big thing.
"My whole career depends on this.
“After that, I’ll have a tutor constable with me as I continue my learning to become a police officer.”
He wants to join the force as he's "always had a positive relationship with the police".
James has noticed a lot of young people don't have a good understanding of the force and he wants to help change that.
He said: "What I want to do, what I'm thinking at the minute, is join a neighbourhood policing team, and work with schools and colleges, trying to promote a positive image.
"There's another side to policing, I'm conscious it's not just about arresting people."
The student found waiting for his A-level results a “very nerve wracking” experience but he has obtained the grades he needed.
James plans to celebrate by “going to the pub”.
Annabel Hopkins, 19, of Colchester, studied sociology, criminology and English literature at Sigma Sixth Form, earning B, C, B.
"I'm going to Essex University, probably doing BA sociology possibly with criminology.
"I'll see where I go from there.
"I'm working today, so I'll be celebrating on Saturday with friends."
Sigma Sixth Form's Charlie Randall, 18, studied dual BTEC sport and A Level business and got a B.
He said: "I feel quite relieved, I'm really happy. I'm doing an apprenticeship in September, I neeed good grades, thankfully I've done okay and can continue with that.
"It's an insurance apprenticeship in London with Willis Towers Watson.
"I'm going to see my friends tonight and celebrate with my family."
