A SUPPER club focusing on low-waste, seasonal, and locally sourced food will be holding their next event at a Colchester village.
The Sustainable Supper Club UK is a new dining series created to help people reconnect with their food come from.
The project raises awareness of the producers, mostly based in Essex and Suffolk, whose produce is grown with consideration for the environment and animal welfare.
Most recently the club served 50 guests in a greenhouse in Beth Chatto’s Plants and Gardens in Elmstead Market.
The cuisine was a set menu built around British mushrooms which were made by Mycotek an Maldon-based urban farm who grow gourmet mushrooms from waste coffee grounds.

The menu is also fixed with a meat or vegetarian option which allows the club to purchase only the food they need.
The club spokesperson said: “We also use fresh ingredients that consumers may not have thought to eat before such as nasturtium leaves and flowers, wild fennel fronds, broad bean leaves and edible flowers.
The Sustainable Supper Club’s next event will be at the Skylark in Ardleigh on September 18.
