Essex has been ranked in the top 30 universities across the UK by a top guide.
The Complete University Guide ranks the best universities in the UK overall bracket and also in 74 subject areas.
Some of the key areas include student satisfaction, research quality, research intensity, graduate prospects, student-staff ratios and entry standards.
Essex has moved up one place to 29th for 2026, with strong performances in academic and facilities spend, student satisfaction, research quality and research intensity.
Vice chancellor Prof Maria Fasli said: “We are delighted to be ranked once again in the top 30 of the Complete University Guide and we have moved up one place to 29th.
“I am really pleased that our ranking in the Complete University Guide recognises our commitment to delivering a world-class student experience with high-quality teaching informed by our global research leaders.”
The university also ranked high when it came to the number of international students, coming 17th for international outlook in the Times Higher Education World University rankings.
Out of the top 30 universities, Essex University has the lowest score for entry level at 59 per cent.
The highest ranked university was Cambridge with a perfect overall score of 100 per cent and Oxford came in second with a score of 98 per cent.
The lowest ranked university was Bedfordshire, with an overall score of 30 per cent.
