A person has died after being hit by a train, transport police have confirmed. 

Greater Anglia confirmed on Saturday that services between Ipswich and London were cancelled due to an incident on the tracks

Services between London Liverpool Street and Colchester, Clacton and Walton were affected by the incident. 

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to Colchester North railway station just before 2.30pm on Saturday following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
