A BRADFIELD pub is closing due to a lack of business and will be holding its last day on Sunday to show appreciation to its “lovely regulars”.
The Strangers Home, next to Station Road in Bradfield, is closing on Sunday (January 26).
Chelmsford couple Will Roberts and Abbie Josling got the keys to the pub in September 2024, a day before a car crashed into the building which led to two people being taken into hospital.
The couple spent nine months restoring the pub before its June 2024 reopening, which saw more than 1,000 people attend.
The pub announced the closure on Tuesday, saying: “Unfortunately we have taken the very difficult decision and it’s not something we have taken lightly but as from this Sunday, January 26, the Strangers Home pub will be closing its doors.
“We appreciate our lovely regulars who have tried so hard to keep this lovely pub alive alongside us. We will be closing Sunday at 4pm.”
Two days earlier, the pub announced it was no longer able to serve food at the pub and the kitchen would be permanently closed “due to a lack of custom”.
The Strangers Holiday Park – a four-acre site - will not be closed and will re-open fully for the season on February 1.
