St Martin's House, at 63 West Stockwell Street in Colchester has been placed on the market for £650,000.

Originally built as a Georgian residence back in 1734, the Grade II listed building was designed by Colchester architect James Deane.

Accommodation is provided on all three levels of the building, with notable features such as a central staircase and a hall with many period features such as high ceilings and fire places.

The building has gas central heating and lighting throughout along with toilets and kitchenette facilities.

The premises are still currently used for offices but a change of use could be obtained to return it back into a residential property.

Alternative uses, such as medical, may also be possible subject to planning.

Designer James Deane was a well regarded architect who is rumoured to have drawn 'The Ichnography of Colchester', although the plans are unsigned.

St Martin's House is closely linked with Colchester's Town Hall, being within a close proximity of one another.

Due to them being so close together, they operated simultaneously together during the First World War, with soldiers able to walk from the hall to the back garden of St Martin's House that fronted West Stockwell Street.
