AN American indie folk singer is heading to Brightlingsea as he kicks off his British tour.
Eli Lev, speaking from his hometown Maryland next to Washington D.C, said he has been writing songs his whole life, being in a high school band and performing in college.
He said his own musical genre was like “Johnny Cash and Stevie Nicks on a road trip in the Redwood Forest with Ed Sheeran and Jack Johnson in the back seat. And they’re all sipping oat milk chai lattes.”
Eli, 42, was in a cover band in Andora for three years, playing to lots of UK and Irish tourists, before returning to his hometown to get his master’s degree in English.
He said: “I've created my own kind of label, so it's through Patreon.
"It's through merge sales, it's through donations, it's through high ticket custom songs that are right. So, it's all fan based. It's pretty amazing.”
With hundreds of thousands of views online, Eli’s focus is on his three worlds project, a trilogy of albums with the first album, Present Journey being released in June 2024.
Eli’s next album Past Lives is being made by a different producer to create a different sound with banjos, mandolin, fiddles as well as acoustic guitar being favoured.
Eli said: “I do think that there is an audience out there for lyric forward music and I would like to put myself into that category.
“I would like my songs to actually be listened to.”
Eli said his 2025 tour would be his biggest in the UK, with him spending a month in the country, and said he was “thankful” he is at a place where he can focus on being present on stage, over making numbers his goal.
