AN event in Colchester that was due to feature a popular British rapper has been cancelled after the star has been charged over rape allegations in Australia.
Youtuber and rapper Yung Filly was due to appear at Trilogy Nightclub later this month.
The 29-year-old, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, has been charged with raping a woman in a hotel after a performance in Perth, Australia.
He has been ordered to remain in the country until December for a further hearing.
As a result, Trilogy today confirmed the event scheduled for October 25 has been cancelled.
The music night would have seen the rapper appear alongside several other special guests.
Barrientos was arrested in Australia on Wednesday on suspicion of rape.
The Colombia-born rapper appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday and has been charged with three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, and four counts of sexual penetration without consent.
He has also been charged with one count of impeding another person’s breathing or circulation by applying pressure to the neck.
It is alleged he brought a woman in her 20s back to his hotel room after he had performed at a nightclub in Perth.
The attack is alleged to have taken place on September 28.
The case was adjourned and he was granted conditional bail, which included a ban on contacting his alleged victim or posting on social media about the case.
Barrientos found fame through YouTube as a comedian and internet personality after making short comedy skits and uploading them to social media as a teenager.
He has since built a following of more than 1.4 million YouTube subscribers, appeared on Channel 4’s The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer, hosted a number of shows for the BBC, and began to pursue a career in music.
