A programme to support residents with physical disabilities has been launched at a Colchester sports centre.
The Sport for Confidence programme, part of Essex County Council's Reconnect initiative, aims to provide early help and preventative support to adults with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, and long-term health conditions, as well as their carers.
Georgia Wills, occupational therapist at Sport for Confidence, said: "This programme extension to the Sports Park is fantastic news as it means more people will be able to gain access to Reconnect."
The programme will run every Tuesday at Colchester Sports Park, with a range of activities including football and netball.
Ms Wills added: "Everyone is welcome, whether they arrive independently or via a referral from a GP surgery or other community provider."
Colchester councillor Martin Goss, portfolio holder for leisure, added: "We want everyone in Colchester to be able to benefit from the many health and social benefits sport and physical activity have to offer.
"The integration of the Sport for Confidence programme at the Sports Park complements the partnerships we already have in place... ensuring everyone has access to the facilities and services they need to lead an active, healthy life.”
