Biryani Planet-Slice and Spice is already proving a hit in Colchester.
After hearing about the newly launched menu on Military Road near the Magistrates Court, I decided to give it a try, hoping it would live up to its promise of authentic and affordable Indian takeaway.
I opted for the special chicken biryani (£4.99) and the chicken lollipop starter (£4.99), and I was not disappointed.
The biryani, served hot and freshly made, came with super tender flavoured chicken and two traditional accompaniments—raita and salan.
For those unfamiliar, raita is a cooling yogurt-based condiment mixed with cucumber or spices, while salan is a tangy, spiced curry sauce.
Both added extra depth to the biryani, which was fragrant, well-seasoned, and bursting with flavour. The portion size was generous, making it excellent value for the price.
The chicken lollipop, an Indo-Chinese style starter (four pieces), was perfectly crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside, with just the right level of spice.
It had an authentic, street food feel to it and was a real treat at such an affordable price point.
What also stood out was the service. The shop owner was at the till, welcoming and friendly, ensuring quick service.
My order was ready within 15 minutes and there was seating to wait which I particularly thought was quite considerate and inclusive; and the packaging kept everything fresh and intact by the time I got home.
Slice and Spice’s new menu offers a wide variety of dishes, including vegetarian options like their vegetable biryani and starters.
Other tempting items include Prawn 65, Lasooni fish, chilli chicken, masala-loaded chips, veg samosas, and paneer starters. With such a great mix of options, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Overall, Slice and Spice’s new menu delivers on its promise of flavour and affordability, with fresh, delicious food that doesn’t compromise on authenticity.
I highly recommend for a tasty, no-fuss Indian takeaway experience.
