A NEW health clinic has opened in a former fish and chip shop in Colchester.
The new Wellbeing Clinic, in North Station Road, offers a range of services.
These include general health checks, blood tests, urine samples, x-rays and ultrasounds, although no surgical procedures are available.
Wellbeing Clinic founder Dr Sue Porter said appointments to get a consultation can be done within a week, which could have taken up to two years with the NHS.
She said: "Services start from £30 for urine samples, or basic blood tests, like blood count or iron function, and they range up to £400 for full body and physiological testing
"Consultant appointments are between £150 and £250, so there is a cost, but it isn’t thousands, like some people suspect it would, with private medical cover.”
"Optimizing your health is what we’re all about. We look at the body as a whole rather than saying your heart rate is a bit slow.”
The clinic currently has two registered GPs, an in-house cardiologist, urologist, rheumatologist, nutritionist and gynaecologist, and will soon have a dermatologist and a respiratory consultant on board.
Dr Porter, who has extensive experience in public health, said: “There’s a lot of people chronically ill from Covid, fatigue, fibromyalgia, and people struggling with physical and mental health. So I saw that gap in the healthcare sector, and the clinic was born.”
