A PRE-INQUEST review hearing is due to take place tomorrow into the death of a five-year-old boy from Colchester. 

Freddie Farrow, five, died in July 2021 after suffering a serious head injury while inside Fenwick in High Street. 

The inquest into the Gosbecks Primary School pupil was opened shortly after his death, and a pre-inquest review is set to take place on Thursday. 

At the hearing, which is held in court, the coroner will discuss the details for the inquest, witnesses will be determined and agree the date of final hearing. 

Colchester Council and the Health and safety Executive have jointly been conducting an investigation into the incident. 

A spokesman for Colchester Council said: “The case of Freddie Farrow, who tragically lost his life in an accident in Fenwick, is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before the coroner. 

“The purpose of this hearing is to provide the coroner with an overview of the incident and the agencies involved in the ongoing investigation. This information will help prepare for the full inquest, which is expected to take place early next year.” 

In the aftermath of Freddie’s death, a fundraiser was launched in his honour with more than £10,000 being raised by members of the public.
