A doctor practising in Colchester has been cleared of a number of misconduct allegations following a tribunal hearing.
Dr Aamir Mujtaba, who worked for the Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust, faced a number of physical and emotional abuse claims, relating to alleged incidents between February and April 2022.
A hearing held by the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) in Manchester, however, found no proof in the allegations made against Dr Mujtaba.
It was alleged that Dr Mujtaba had slapped, pushed and grabbed the arm of the complainant, who was referred to as ‘Ms A’ in official papers.
Dr Mujtaba was also alleged to have tried to dissuade the complainant from reporting the alleged aggressive behaviour to the police.
The allegation that his conduct “amounted to controlling and/or coercive behaviour, in that you repeatedly or continuously engaged in behaviour towards Ms A that was controlling and/or coercive, had a serious effect on Ms A, and you knew or ought to have known would have a serious effect on Ms A” was not proved.
The tribunal concluded, that Dr Mujtaba’s fitness to practice was not impaired following the findings of the hearing.
