A FAMILY party business and other volunteers are hosting a fundraiser for cystic fibrosis.
Parents Dream is a Colchester family party and entertainment business.
Next Saturday, the Silver Oyster pub in Colchester is hosting Parents Dream and other local businesses for an afternoon of fundraising fun for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Jade De’Ath, 23, started Parents Dream two years ago.
She said: “As a company, we decided to do this event because my auntie passed away from cystic fibrosis at just 23 years old.
“We also know a two-year-old girl with cystic fibrosis, and we raised funds for her.
“People don’t realise how much cystic fibrosis affects people until you’re in that situation.
“It really touches our heart.”
When Jade was 21, she did a charity skydive and raised £1,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
This year, she hopes to raise even more.
The event will have a barbecue, cake sale, games, two bouncy castles and performances from local bands Sax and the Voice and Oasiz, who volunteered to take part.
Visitors can donate with cash or card, and raffle tickets are available now in the Silver Oyster and on the day.
Parents Dream works hard to offer affordable family parties and events.
Jade said: “When I started Parents Dream, the idea was that it’s family oriented.
“I wanted to offer something I could afford as a parent rather than something there for the money.”
“I want to make sure everyone feels safe and connected rather than me coming in as an entertainer.
“You can speak to us about anything, and we want to help and do everything around you as a family.”
She continued: “I’m really proud.
“Without the support of my family, and everyone who has ever come to a party, holiday club or event, we wouldn’t have been able to do this.
“We’ll do anything for charity.”
The fundraiser is at the Silver Oyster this Saturday, August 24, from 1pm to 6pm.
