THE BOSS of a recent 80s music event is feeling “very confident” about returning next year.

Rupert Doogan-Hobbs is the director of LHG Events, the business that organised last weekend 80s Calling Festival in Lower Castle Park.

Mr Doogan-Hobbs's wife, Liz Hobbs, is the promoter who books all the acts for the business.

The concert featured live performances from The Christians, Hue and Cry, The Farm, Level 42, Bananarama, and the headliners, The Human League.

The Gazette spoke with The Human League, Bananarama, and Level 42 during the event.

LHG events previously put on the Simple Minds concert in Castle Park back in 2018.

Mr Doogan-Hobbs has confirmed that LHG Events is hopeful to return for another event next year.

He said: “We look at Colchester Castle Park as an annual event for us.

“It’s important for any venue to find the right artist that fits the demographic of the people in the area.

“We are already in talks with artists for 2025.

“We are very confident we will be coming back here with the right offering, the right ticket price, and something that suits the audience we have built up over the last eight years.”
