A FUN day in Colchester has helped raise £10,000 for St Helena Hospice.
The hospice ran the Mile End Fun Day for the first time on August 3 - with the event formerly being run by Mile End Council.
There were more than 60 stalls with entertainment ranging from high energy inflatables to the traditional coconut shy.
Joanne Clarke, public fundraising manager at St Helena Hospice, said: "A huge thank you to everyone who visited our Community Fun Day on Saturday.
"We are delighted so many people came along to have fun all while supporting St Helena Hospice.
"It was a really lovely day and even the sudden downpour didn't stop the fun. There was plenty of entertainment, food and stalls to enjoy, and we're looking forward to making next year's event even bigger and better.
Ms Clarke added: "We estimate there were more than 1,500 visitors throughout the day, raising around £10,000 to help local people in need of hospice care and bereavement support.
"This huge amount could help run the inpatient unit for nearly two days or our community services for around ten days, so thank you to our community for their generosity.
"Our volunteers were fantastic and we are so grateful to them for donating their time to support our event too."
