COLCHESTER United have signed forward John-Kymani Gordon from Crystal Palace on a two-year deal.

The 21-year-old has become the U's fourth summer signing and will link up with his new team-mates for the first time next Monday, on the first day of pre-season training.

Gordon has had spells on loan at Cambridge United, Carlisle United and most recently AFC Wimbledon, where the England under-16 international spent the second half of last season.

He is now in line to make his Colchester debut against them, on the opening day of the new 2024-25 season.

Gordon told the U's website: “I’m very excited, coming here from Palace.

"I’ve been at Palace all my life, so I think now it’s time for a new journey so I’m excited to see what the future holds.

“I’m a powerful forward that likes to create and score goals.

"I want to help the team as much as possible, I’m very direct and I’ll work hard for the team.”

The England under-16 international signed his first professional contract in 2020 before it was extended, two years later.

Gordon has played and scored regularly for the Eagles' development team.

Colchester boss Danny Cowley told the club's website:  “He will be a super exciting player for the club.

"We lost Jayden Fevrier and his athleticism, but we think we’ve found a really good replacement.

“He’s come from Crystal Palace, and I think people were a bit shocked to see him go from there.

"He has getaway pace, can carry the ball and has good end product.

"He has an edge, and I like that.”

Gordon is Colchester's fourth summer signing, following Ben Goodliffe, Harry Anderson and Matt Macey in joining the club ahead of the new 2024-25 season.
