AN ESSEX Police officer has been charged with two counts of assault following an incident in Colchester where a woman ‘sustained a head injury’
Police constable Andrew Watt has been charged after an incident took place in Colchester last December.
The incident happened last December where a woman was arrested and conveyed to a custody suite, during that time, the woman sustained a head injury.
This incident was escalated to Essex Police’s professional standards department.
Following this, the incident involving PC Watt was referred to the independent office for police conduct and it was decided that an independent investigation would be carried out.
PC Watt was suspended as a result of the incident, and he will appear at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
