A police cordon has been set up in the early evening near a city centre car park.
Essex Police has restricted access to St Julian Grove, Colchester this evening before 6.30pm.
A police car has blocked off the way through Priory Street, leading drivers, cyclists and pedestrians to walk through the Priory Street car park.
The pedestrian access via St Botolphs Priory has also been closed at the bottom of the street.
Officers are at the scene, but Essex Police have not yet released any information about any ongoing proceedings.
