THIS summer sees the arrival of the European Championships, with the highly anticipated event set to be watched by the majority of the UK.

England’s campaign kicks off on June 16 at 8pm against Serbia and, as is always the case, footie fans will no doubt flock to their nearest boozer to catch the action.

And Colchester really does have a lot to offer this summer for those looking to cheer England onto Euro glory.

With a brilliant variety of pubs on offer in the city, we have decided to map out a plan for how you can spend the day and cheer on Three Lions.

Pre-game: The Kings Arms

The Kings Arms is the perfect place to spend a hot summer's day, not least because of its brilliant beer garden.

The Greene King pub, which also offers a great food menu, boasts drinks and a great atmosphere, making it the perfect pre-game stop-off.

From some of the best pub food around to a few drinks to settle the nerves, the Kings Arms has it all.

Game time: The Centurion

The number one sports pub in Colchester, The Centurion is the place football fans will want to be when the Euros kick into life.

The pub offers various screens which are scattered around the watering hole so punters can view the action from anywhere.

It will even showcase the games on its outdoor screens in the garden, so it is the ideal place if you are looking to watch the football with some drinks and (hopefully) good weather.

Post-game: Three Wise Monkeys/Other Monkey Brewing

Whether England win or lose, the drinks selection at Three Wise Monkeys will hit the right spot - be it to drown your sorrows or celebrate victory.

The bar offers a great variety of worldwide beers, flavoured gins, and spiced rums to name a few.

It boasts a brilliant feel-good atmosphere and much seating both upstairs and downstairs to gather with friends and family.

Come on England!
