A MAN was seriously assaulted on the dancefloor of a busy Colchester nightclub sparking a police investigation.

Essex Police says the victim, a man in his 40s, was hit on the side of his head by a woman holding a glass and suffered cuts to his head.

Detectives are now appealing for the public’s help after the incident on the dancefloor at Rubix in Crouch Street in the early hours of Saturday, April 27.

They have urged anyone with information which could assist officers to come forward.

A spokesman for the force said: "The nightclub was busy and we’d like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the assault taking place on the dancefloor.
