Natural Dog Food store opening in Witham

Shelly and Kristian Mills, aged 33 and 32 respectively,  will be opening shop Wild Dogs in Witham in June. 

The couple have spent the last two months getting the shop in Opus Business Park, Wheaton Road, ready every evening after they finish work. 

Shelly said: "It leaves us just the evenings to build, design and arrange the shop ready for opening.”

The pair are big dog lovers and the concept for a raw dog food shop came after Kristian's dog won her category at Crufts having only eaten raw food.

Aside from natural raw dog food, they will also stock natural treats, supplements, toys, bowls, shampoos, dog walking essentials. 

They also plan to stock Canicross equipment and buoyancy aids for dogs 

Shelly said: "Kristian has always fed his dog Akila raw food from a puppy and she has always been in amazing health and condition which even qualified her to enter and place first in her category at Crufts.

"I have recently transitioned my dog Insky onto raw food. The changes in health and overall condition of Insky has been already very noticeable in just a few months.

"Being able to work with dogs and take them to work with us has always been a dream of ours.”

The pair hosted market research sessions in Witham to understand what the community needed and what was missing.

The husband and wife duo were also inspired to make the change after feeling their current work life had become stale and saw this the "perfect time" to try something new.

Kristian owns a commercial and residential cleaning company while Shelly is a legal secretary. 

Shelly added: "Being able to pursue something we both enjoy and to be a part of the local dog community, will be accomplishing a massive goal.”

The shop is set to open on the first weekend of June.
