OFFICERS in Harlow made an arrest and seized weapons at Harlow College as part of an operation to combat knife crime.

Entitled ‘Operation Stronghold’, the initiative saw a knife arch set up outside the student entrance as they entered the campus.

Police officers were stationed at entrances while plain-clothed police operated around the borders of the college.

As a result of the operation, officers completed five stop and searches with one person being arrested and charged.

A further result saw the police seize three knives and gain six pieces of intelligence.

The week previous also saw a similar operation which targeted the underage sale of alcohol, vapes and knives.

It was completed by Harlow’s community policing team and Harlow Police Cadets.

The successful mission saw seven out of nine checks passed, with the police working with partner agencies to address the two failures.
