The new Isle of Wight High Sheriff, Graham Biss, has unveiled a sculpture commemorating families affected by dementia.

The event hosted by The Circle support group, set up last year, was held at the Riverside Centre in Newport.

The group, witnessing significant growth in its Isle of Wight membership, strives to provide assistance to the caregivers of those diagnosed with dementia.

The sculpture stands not just as a tribute to lost loved ones, but also as a daily reminder of those living with dementia.

Mr Biss said: "Both my parents suffered from dementia, so I very much recognise the journey, which people here today are on in different stages.

"It is a cruel disease, but I think the big message that we took away is that you're not alone and I think that's an important message.

"I would like to pay tribute to all the outreach workers and thank you all on behalf of the community, for everything you do."

All members of The Circle are caregivers or family members affiliated with the Dementia Outreach Service.
