Theft - A man, who was carrying items with security tags, was stopped in Castle Park
A MAN from Colchester has been charged after hundreds of pounds worth of items were stolen from a city centre shop.
Essex Police’s Colchester Community Policing Team were on patrol in Castle Park on April 26 when officers utilised their stop and search powers on an individual in the park.
During the search, they found a number of items which still had security tags from a store in the city centre attached, amounting to a total of £298.83.
Jon Birch, 45, from Colchester, was arrested on suspicion of theft before being charged.
He has been remanded to appear at the next available court.
