RESIDENTS in Colchester who "know how to have fun" but feel their dancing days are behind them are being encouraged to return to boogying on down at a daytime disco.

Disco Dayze will be taking over Trilogy nightclub, in High Street, on May 25, guaranteeing guests an exciting night out but during the day.

The event is designed for those who wish to dance to the classics of the 70s to early 00s without sacrificing their Sundays by having a late-night.

The popularity of the daytime disco sensation has soared with venues selling out across the country several months in advance.

Jay Smith, owner of Montey’s in Harrogate, said: "We’ve been open for 27 years, we’ve grown up with our guests.

"Over the years lives change, jobs, mortgages, kids, responsibilities for loved ones.

"All of these things eat in to your time and energy.

"We know from talking to our friends that they still have a huge appetite for letting loose, they just have different time pressures and don’t want a late night!

"Disco Dayze is the perfect fit."

This innovative concept is popular with people in their 30s and beyond who are in search of a nostalgic escapade on the dance floor.

Mr Smith added: "From the moment we open the doors the dance floor is heaving and the singing is full volume.

"We get so many amazing comments from people relieved to finally be able to have a big old night out, but still be home in time for tea.

"We find that during one event the next one or two sell out, with guests making sure they don’t miss the next one."

The choice of Colchester as the next disco venue was a simple one, Mr Smith says.

"We chose Colchester because we know the locals know how to have fun," he added.

"We found the perfect party venue at Trilogy, big enough to be an amazing event, small enough to make sure everyone feels special."

The upcoming Disco Dayze event in Colchester will run from 2pm to 6pm.

For those interested, the advice is to "get dressed for a proper night out, bring your dancing shoes, grab a ticket while you can".
