A FAMOUS road in Colchester was closed down as firefighters tackled a fire inside an empty building.
Emergency services were called to Crouch Street this morning following reports of a blaze.
Upon arrival, crews found a small fire on the first floor of a derelict building in the so-called 'Bond Street of Colchester'.
A spokesman for the Essex Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters were called to an incident in Crouch Street, Colchester at 9.57am today.
“When crews arrived, they found a small fire on the first floor of a derelict building. They extinguished the fire by 10.39am.
“The cause of the fire was recorded as accidental."
