THE Gazette is once again calling on residents and visitors to support our local independent shops.
High Streets have been hit hard in recent years due to the advent of online shopping, the seemingly never-ending increase in out-of-town retail parks and the impact of Covid-19 restrictions on trading.
Big-name retailers are pulling out of many town centres, but towns such as Brightlinsea, Dedham and Wivenhoe remain vibrant thanks to the large number of independent shops.
Here, we showcase just a few of their local retailers, and would urge people to use local shops to ensure the town centre does not wither, as it has in many other areas.
