A play about the trials of women dismissed from their military roles due to their sexuality has won the first Play Lottery Competition.
'Out and Out' by Norfolk-based writer Joy Beresford Frye will be performed at the Mercury Theatre Studio today at 7pm.
The Play Lottery is a competition where the winning writer is chosen randomly.
This opportunity for Ms Frye means her work, which was selected among 54 entries, will be developed at the Mercury, alongside feedback from playwrights Sarah Grochala and Hannah Maxwell.

The practice that is portrayed in the play came to an end in 2000.
The affected women, however, are still waiting for reparation.
Set in 1995 and 2005, the scenes feature three women from different ranks and backgrounds.
One of the features is Private Mary Archer, Sergeant Marian Marsh, and Lieutenant Colonel Caroline Montagu, all portrayed by a single performer in a compelling, fast-paced drama inspired by the true story of gay veterans.
