A COLCHESTER wedding shop loved by stars such as Olly Murs has been handed a top award. 

Abigail’s Collection and The Groom’s Room, in High Street, has won its 30th business award.

The team was honoured with the 'Longstanding Established Retailer of the Year' at an Bridal Buyer industry gathering which saw the finest bridal retailers across the UK and Ireland come together for an evening of recognition.

The awards laud the achievements of top-notch bridal retailers.

Judge Zoe Burke, from Hitched, said: "The calibre of entries was exceptionally high and demonstrates the wealth of talent and innovation across the bridal sector, Abigail’s Collection is an exceptional bridal retailer with a superb reputation not just nationally but internationally within our field.

"Their success in the industry in the last 19 years really stands out."

Abigail’s Collection & The Grooms Room, where renowned artist Olly Murs bought his wedding suit, has been a strong performer since its establishment in 2005.

When asked about the secret behind these achievements, business founder, Abigail Neill, said: "We’re very blessed to have built an awesome bridal and menswear business.

"It’s a small but very personal and private retail space and we strive to ensure our customers feel really special.

"Helping our customers plan for the biggest day of their lives is a massive privilege and despite the long hours it’s an amazing and rewarding business to be in."

The team's feeling of elation was shared by Charlotte Baker, assistant bridal manager, who was overjoyed at the recognition.

She said: "To be recognised in this way by Bridal Buyer and the judges is a massive achievement for us.

"We were not expecting to win but were so excited when we heard our names called, it was an amazing evening."
