A multi-generational charity concert featuring a nine-year-old piano prodigy will be held next month at St Mary’s Church, Wivenhoe.

Bethany Reynolds will make her orchestral debut playing the slow movement from Beethoven’s ‘Emperor’ piano concerto.

The talented pianist has already achieved ABRSM Grade 8 last December and is studying for her ARSM diploma.

The Wivenhoe Orchestra, Wivenhoe Youth Choir, and the Comrie Singers will also all perform at the event on May 12.

Pam Garland, director of Wivenhoe Orchestra, said: "The Wivenhoe Orchestra gives us so much pleasure and enjoyment.

"We hope that the young people performing will continue to love making music for as long as we in the older generation have."

The concert is free of charge, with collections being made for the Rob George Foundation which supports young aspiring musicians and sportspeople to develop their talents.

Sarah Barnard, the choir organiser, added: "We are proud to have children, aged 6 – 13, from six different schools in the area.

"Our weekly sessions led by a professional conductor are great fun and teach children music reading and theory too."

The event starts at 4pm.
