A MUM has just conquered a gruelling race after being inspired by her young son who has no peripheral vision.

Amber Fox-Hammond and Julie Overy have just completed the London Landmarks Half Marathon in aid of  Variety, the Children's Charity.

The pair are staunch supporters of the organisation, with Amber regularly participating in charity-sponsored events with her friends and family.

Amber's drive to help children with disabilities and give them a fair chance at life stems from her two-year-old son Arlo's condition.

Born with bilateral cataracts, he had to undergo surgery and now relies heavily on glasses for approximately two metres of sight with no peripheral vision.

The marathon offered the women a thrilling route through the heart of London, past iconic landmarks such as Big Ben, the London Eye, and the Tower of London.

But this is only part of this season's fundraising efforts.

Amber is also due to run the Manchester Marathon and the London Marathon, totalling 65.5 miles in three weeks, all for the love of supporting Variety.

Started in 1949 as part of a bigger worldwide charity, Variety, the Children’s Charity has been serving children and young people for 75 years in the UK.

They strive towards their monumental goal of raising more than £300 million to aid children who are disadvantaged or living with disabilities throughout the country.

Renowned for its Sunshine Coaches, the charity helps these children experience the world and connects them with their local community.

Through their Wheelchair Programme and other disability-friendly equipment, Variety promotes independence, freedom, and dignity amongst the kids.

To celebrate its 75th anniversary in the UK, Variety is building a team of 75 participants for the fully inclusive Parallel Windsor challenge event on Sunday, July 7 in Windsor Great Park.

Amber along with her son Arlo and the rest of her family will be participating to offer their support.
