BOSSES behind Colchester newest event - the Roman Rampage - say they are excited to bring the race to the city.

The all-new Roman Rampage race will be making its way to Colchester on March 22, 2025.

This race was designed to replace the cancelled Paras'10 run and offer a completely new run around Colchester.

Last year organisers confirmed the Paras'10 event, which has raised about £1.6million for the military community, will not be going ahead this year.

The 11th edition of the race was due to be staged in May before the plug was pulled due to soldiers needing to perform their jobs in a humanitarian role overseas.

Natalie Urbaniak has been one of the Paras'10 race organisers since 2015 and is very 'excited' to be hosting a brand new race through the city.

She said: "We’re very excited about the new Paras’10 race in Colchester.

"Although not a traditional Paras’10, the Roman Rampage is set to be just as tough and physically demanding as our previous race, which our entrants have come to know and love."

The Paras'10 race was originally founded in 1982 by a serving Parachute Regiment Officer in Aldershot and has always been supported by The Parachute Regiment ever since.

Natalie continued: "Our Paras’10 race has been a staple in Colchester since 2012, so it was not an easy decision for us to cancel it in 2023.

"We still wanted to have a Colchester race, but one that we could make work around the ever-increasing operational tempo of our paratroopers, and one that still delivered the quality and standard of event that our entrants have come to know and expect.

"The Roman Rampage has been driven by our Events Manager, Mark, himself a retired Parachute Regiment Officer, so we know the standards are high!"

Roman Rampage offers runners the unique choice of running three different versions of the course.

Natalie said: "The main difference is the distance – our other Paras’10 events are a single 10-mile course from start to finish.

"The Roman Rampage will be a shorter course of just over three miles, offering entrants the option to go round once, twice or three times.

"If they complete all three loops, their total distance will be a full ten miler - it will just be a lot harder to get there."

Entries for the new Roman Rampage event will be available on www.paras10.com this summer.
