TRIBUTES have poured in following the tragic death of a baby in Colchester.
The five-month-old infant was rushed to hospital after emergency services were called to Seatrade House in North Station Road.
Two ambulances and an ambulance officer vehicle attended alongside police.
The baby was rushed to Colchester General Hospital however has now died.
Speaking following the sad incident, city centre councillor Steph Nissen said: “The death of this child is a harrowing and tragic loss.
“It is easy to speculate and surmise, especially in light of the arrests. But we must allow the police time to do their investigation.
“As a community, many of us are feeling the sadness, and I urge anyone impacted by this incident to seek support.”
Fellow Castle ward councillor Mark Goacher also spoke about the “really sad” incident.
He said: “I’m very sorry to hear this and my thoughts are with the family concerned at this difficult time.
“I hope that the authorities fully investigate what has happened, but I don’t want to pre-judge anything and would urge others not to do so.
“At the moment my thoughts are with the relatives. It is really sad.”
