A MAN has been charged in connection with an incident where a cash transit driver was reportedly assaulted and money stolen.
Jamie Sherfield, 40, of no fixed abode, has been charged with robbery and failing to provide a sample for drink or drug testing following the incident on Saturday.
Sherfield has now been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court, in New Street, on Monday.
A second man, aged 46, of Colchester, who was arrested on suspicion of robbery has been released on conditional bail until May whilst the police investigation continues.
It was confirmed that a driver was assaulted and box containing money was taken.
A grey BMW was seen leaving the area at speed.
Road pursuit officers were also deployed to the incident and after investigating, it was believed the vehicle was in Lexden.
But the BMW was spotted in Marks Tey a short time later.
